Welcome to the Onodera Lab in the ECE Department at the University of Toronto! We are excited about classical and quantum information processing using light. Our research is interdisciplinary, operating at the intersection of integrated photonics, artificial intelligence, and quantum optics. A core focus of the lab is developing and fabricating novel programmable photonic devices, both in an academic cleanroom and with foundry services, that can manipulate light with unprecedented control and precision, and subsequently training their device parameters with machine learning algorithms for various computing and sensing applications.
